Chiller schedules, night base load, and the quiet cost of “always ready”
Many Bangkok facilities keep a chiller or primary pump ready for late tenant requests. The intention is good service; the meter records a raised floor under every night profile. Before blaming the weather, check whether the “ready” mode is still needed after hours.
Compare three consecutive weeks with the same outdoor temperature band if you can. Weather excuses evaporate when the night floor stays high on cooler evenings. Talk to the shift engineer about override habits — manual starts after a complaint often never get turned back down.
A walkthrough helps more than another email. Standing in the plant room at 21:00 with the interval chart on a phone makes the conversation factual instead of theoretical.
When you change schedules, note the date in your report pack. Future baselines need that timestamp, or next year’s comparison will look like a mysterious improvement with no owner.
